I Married My Late Twin’s Husband, Then Found Her Final Warning

One week after I married my late twin sister Clara’s husband, an elderly attorney arrived at my door carrying a wooden box and a message my sister had left behind.
He looked at me and whispered that I was the exact image of Clara before revealing that she had prepared something in case Michael ever convinced me to become his wife.
Inside the box were her wedding ring, financial records, sealed letters, and a warning that immediately made my hands shake.

Before Clara died, Michael had started visiting every Sunday, bringing coffee and memories that made me believe he was grieving and searching for comfort.
My children warned me that loneliness could be confused with love, but I thought marrying him might be a way to honor my sister’s memory.
We had a quiet courthouse wedding, and I ignored the strange feeling that I was stepping into a life that was never truly mine.

Then I opened Clara’s letter.
She wrote that marrying Michael would not honor her—it would erase me.
She revealed that he had hidden thousands in debt, borrowed against property without telling her, and depended on others to save him from his own choices.

But Clara’s warning contained something even more disturbing than the financial secrets. She had discovered what Michael planned to do after her death, and she knew I would become his next target. The final documents she left behind were meant to expose the truth before it was too late.
